Want to have a creative and unique way to reach out and connect with your community? Then you need to Buddy Up!

The heart and soul of the program is Buddy Shuh, a finalist on the reality TV show The Biggest Loser. SweatCor has been very fortunate to share in Buddy’s experience and knowledge has helped him develop an outstanding community outreach program.

Throughout the program, Buddy Up! offers health tips, exercise regimens and a healthy nutritional diet plan. Each year more than 200 people participate in the program and Buddy Uppers have collectively lost more than 1500 pounds since its inception in 2012.

The Buddy Up program began as part of Westland, Michigan’s “Passport to a Healthy City” campaign. This, originally,  free program creates a community for people to join together and get healthy. Buddy Up is an eight -week program which meets every Saturday morning for a weigh in, a team meeting, an exercise portion and nutrition class.

The event begins and ends with a fitness assessment to help participants see just how far they have come. In some years it’s even culminated with a 5K run or walk or 1 mile kid’s run

A Wayne, Michigan resident, Buddy Shuh returned home from The Biggest Loser and decided he wanted to help give the gift of health to his community. Buddy uses the principles he learned on the show and applied them to help people within his community.

Each week Buddy Up! not only has nutritional information to share but also gives Buddy Uppers real advice on how to reach their goals.
