This picture should make you laugh a little. A friend sent this my way the other day and I instantly knew this had to make the blog. What a perfect example of good vs. evil, the Jedi vs. the Sith, Superman vs. Lex Luthor, Elsa vs. Anna…the list goes on.

If you are not familiar with the “Soon” memes then take a second and look them up. (If you are unfamiliar with “memes”, you might look that up first…) These are some humorous pictures that give the impression of something waiting to attack, soon… For those of us who fight the daily health battle this pic may fit in this category.

“Soon” can be seen two ways…soon the struggle will begin, or soon the struggle can end. Most of us have felt this struggle. In the midst of all our hard work there is this shadow looming over us. Sometimes it feels like the journey is easy and we are unstoppable. In those moments it’s like we are on cruise control. We have the rhythm going and we truly get a glimpse of who we are meant to be.

Then…it happens. Something we didn’t see coming changes our motivation, alters our schedule, or places a speed bump in the road. It can be so discouraging to put forth all the effort and then get derailed. It’s in those times that we can get down on ourselves and want to give up.

This is exactly the moment when we need to remember these words from Galatians 6:9:

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good.
At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

Let me give you the bad news, struggles will come. There are those things out there that will derail you, they are waiting and watching for the opportunity to cast their shadow on all your hard work.

However, the good news is amazing! Suffering and struggles can be overcome! Sorrows may last for a night but joy comes in the morning! Mercy and grace show up brand new every single day! The shadows don’t win!

You are the one who chooses which will have more power. Either it’s the impending struggle that you worry about and let defeat you or it’s in knowing victory is coming as the struggle ends.

The question is, which will it be for you today?
